The Founder

Dipl. Ing. Walter Hitzinger
* on April 8th 1908 in Linz

He founded on January 1st 1946 the company Dipl. Ing. Hitzinger KG. The first registration of the firm was on June 16th 1947.

After finishing his degree at the Technical University in Vienna – he was technical speaker of Steyr-Daimler-Puch Werke and he was board member of the Flugmotorenwerke Ostmark/Wiener Neudorf.
After his employments as CEO of VOEST in Linz and manager of Daimler Benz in Stuttgard he managed together with his partner, Dipl. Ing. Schäcke, the company Hitzinger.

By having circumspection and understanding for his employees and excellent worldwide business contacts he had a great deal with the upcoming of the company. By January 1st 1975 a sharing of the company between him and his partner Dipl. Ing. Schäcke.
On July 26th 1975 Mr. Dipl. Ing. Walter Hitzinger died much to early after a long ordeal.

He established himself already at the age of 32 as an industrial in Linz. By January 1st 1946 he took part as a managing director at Dipl. Ing. Hitzinger & Co, which was leaded as an open trading company with 50% share.
At the same time the first electric wholesaler , „Schäcke & Co“ in Salzburg was foundend.
In 1975 Mr. Dipl. Ing. Hans Schäcke left the company. Because of his job as an accredited expert for mechanical and electrical engineering and having understanding and special knowledge he had great contribution to the successful growth of the company.

The Chronicle

At the beginning of the phase of rebuilding after the first winter after war Dipl. Ing. Walter Hitzinger founded on January 1st 1946 a tradinghouse with a service workshop, the company Dipl. Ing. Hitzinger AG.

1948 ...	...Mr. Dipl. Ing. Hans Schäcke entered the company with a share of 50% and the company was refirmed in Dipl. Ing. Hitzinger & Co. In a former anti-aircraft artillery garage in Wegscheid, Helmholtzstraße 46 a garage was installed to repair destroyed electrical and combustion engines. Gensets, electromotors of all kind were newly wound and also mechanically repaired. Repairworks for the ÖBB made it necessary to purchase new slot-maker and a hydraulic press to refurbish those stators and rotors from oilpumps, compressors and tractionmotors upt o 725 kW, which were destroyed by core burning. So the first steps in the direction of being a manufacturer of electric machines were done. Furtheron also the production of this and other components for E-loks as collectors, continuous switches, break and start up resistors, point setting actuators, line breaker actuators, power supply for rail; - telephone and security systems widened the range of products for the railway program. The cicil sector was supplied with sasynchronous motors for agricultural machines and DC motors. The need for space made ist necessary to look for new locations both for production and for administration.
1958 ...	... the administration moved from the first location Amagasse 3 to the Hauptplatz 17.
1961 ...	... the winding production, switchpanel production and the test department were moved to Schererstraße.
1971 ...	... by an exchange of real estate it was possible to bring both administration and production together at the present area and build it up again.
1955 ...	... the first three-phase current synchronous alternators from own design was built with an DC exciter machine and an mechanical down-controller were built. The first UPS system was built in 1963 for the KOAX-Station Wr. Neustadt. The first orders for serial products had been won in 1968 at 120 pcs. 100-150 kVA gensets for Turkish Army and120 pcs. 25 kVA gensets for Petrol Ofisi.
1969 ...	... the first synchronous converter was delivered to the International Atomic Commission in Seibersdorf.wurde der erste Synchron-Umformer an die Internationale Atom Energie Kommission in Seibersdorf.
1970 ...	... the brushless alternators and the electronical regulators wer developed in our own house. In 1975 in the new electronic department the first electronic start up automatic, frequency relays, synchronization devices, etc. were developed and manufactured.
1975 ...	... happened the real sharing of the companies Hitzinger and Schäcke, which both had a common balance sheet before. Mr. Dipl. Ing. Hitzinger took over the shares from Dipl. Ing. Schäcke , vice versa Dipl. Ing. Schäcke took over the shares of Schäcke.
1.6.1977 ...	... Mr. Jörg Hitzinger, son of the founder, became the sole owner.
1980 ...	... Jörg Hitzinger died and the company was taken over by his sister Christa Thewanger and her husband Jörg.
1.12.1980 ...	... the company was refirmed in Dipl. Ing. Hitzinger GmbH.
1981 ...	… the company was changed into Dipl. Ing. Hitzinger LLC
1993 ...	… change in ownership in the form of a management buyout (MBO). New CEOs: Platzer, Gatterbauer, Roland
1996 ...	… 50-year anniversary with high-ranking politicians as guests
2000 ...	… trouble-free millennium change thanks to Hitzinger
2006 ...	… 60-year anniversary
2008 ...	… Majority share acquisition (80% of Hitzinger) by the HTI group – High Tech Industries Corporation - www.hti-ag.at

After a constraint bancruptcy in December 1992 the present managing directors, Hubert Platzer, Ing. Helmut Roland and Hermann Gatterbauer took over the company.
